The Garou Lunar Calendar

This text is a slightly modified version of this page’s information, which does directly follow the text of Rage Across The Heavens and the Player’s Guide to Garou, just adding a little bit more detail on certain items.

Unsurprisingly, the animistic culture of the Garou measures the passage of time differently than humanity at large. This article will give you, the player, a basic idea of how it works and how it can affect your character. This information is taken from Rage Across the Heavens, and is thus ‘canon’ material. While there are no direct game effects, you can use this to flesh out your Garou’s history by giving him or her a more direct connection to the stars. One thing to remember is that unlike Humanity, Garou have concrete evidence of the influence of celestial bodies on their lives and personality: Luna demonstrably governs their connection to their Rage, which burns hottest when the moon is full and wanes with the moon’s descent into darkness. Hence it makes sense that they will lend credence to the idea that other celestial bodies have a measure of influence over their lives as well. (more…)

Expanded Powers & Taints Strike Back: Charms II

November 8, 2011

Here’s the second in my series of taking existing Spirit Charms and turning them into Power for Possessed characters. This time I’m taking on a couple of the big, big Powers like Break Reality, Gateway and Warp Reality. I’ve added thsoe Spirit Charms from the Book of the Wyrm, 2nd edition and Umbra Revised that i felt were suitable for conversion, and I’m adding notes on using a couple more of the Charms found in the BotW2 but that may not really merit their own Power writeups. Alternate Kami Powers Advancement

October 22, 2011

Here is a tweak to the system by which Kami can advance and gain Powers or improve the Powers that they already possess. I will use these rules for my Awakening chronicle. Note that they have not been thoroughly playtested, and I may tweak the multipliers up a bit if I decide that this is a bit too cheap.

Normally, All Kami are required to pay for all but their first five points of Powers with Taints (and their first five points are covered by their one default Geasa). Unlike Gorgons, Fomori and Drones, they lack any other means to pay for their Powers because they do not have the Autonomy characteristic. This tends to leave Kami weaker in both the long and short run than Fomori or Gorgons, because taking large numbers of Taints is crippling. (more…)

Possessed Characters, Consecration and Totems

September 29, 2011

Possessed: a Player’s Guide gives very general rules for the Background: Consecrated but some intriguing possibilities. In its section on Kami, it mentions that maybe a Kami Consecrated to a Totem avatar might gain the same benefit for their consecration that a Garou might from a pack totem.

This needed some further exploration. (more…)

Still More Expanded Powers: Charms I

September 15, 2011

Here are a few more Powers for Possessed characters that I feel were fairly glaring omissions, especially Cleanse the Blight. They are converted from Spirit Charms found in the Werewolf core book.

If the powers of Possessed characters are derived from the spirits that inhabit them, it seems awfully strange to me that a number of the really basic core Charms are not represented with some sort of related Power. Quite a few of the Charms in the books are represented in some manner, especially since there are hundreds upon hundreds of Spirit Gifts that possessed characters can take, but there are a few Charms that don’t really seem to have a good equivalent Spirit Gift. Anyhow, here I’m endeavoring to fix that a bit.  (more…)

Life as a [DATA EXPUNGED] Kinfolk

October 1, 2010

The following document is a transcript taken from an audio recording on a CD[i] that was delivered to the Professor ████████████, ret., a █████████████ Kinfolk and ██████████████ in the ███████. Certain data points and names have been redacted in this copy of the transcript, and the speaker (who identifies herself as a Ms. ███) [ii] appears to have edited her own voice recording as well prior to delivery, cutting out several sections of considerable length after the original recording was created.
