Now, the little guy’s actually been honorary colonel-in-chief and mascot of the regiment for a while now, but now he’s Sir Nils Olav. It’s an odd choice for a mascot in a way, but it’s also nice. The regiment used to really like visiting this particular zoo and one of the lieutenants apparently especially liked the penguins so he nominated one as the mascot. Check out the slideshow. I think it’s cute seeing a penguin inspect “his” troops.
