In the News: Killer Kites.

11 Killed at Pakistani Kite Festival
You always know it was a good party if it left casualties. People having their throats slashed by kites, falling off roofs to their deaths or being struck by stray gunfire… that’s what I call having a good time. I say that we institute an annual Grenade Festival this spring.

Authorities had banned kite flying following a string of deaths at the festival last year, but temporarily lifted it before this year’s event. Officials said the ban was re-imposed following the latest deaths.

This, to me, is the “best” part. First off, it’s a “duh” moment. Then, you just have to appreciate the karmic sense of humour there.

Sadly, it also speaks volumes about the government.

It was lifted specifically for the festival, you see. The Pakistani government only wants carnage on special occasions.
